Bond behaviour evaluation between steel reinforcement and self-healing concrete containing non-axenic biomasses

Although steel reinforcements are used to withstand tensile forces in concrete, cracks an unavoidable phenomenon. The presence of cracks, fact, increases the risk for lowering service life and durability concrete structures. A critical issue occurs when due splitting forces, appear along tensioned rebars which damage bonding between matrix. As a mitigation plan, should be healed at short notice has recovered by potential use healing agents. This paper aims investigate bond behaviour reinforcement self-healing concrete. Two biomasses were employed as agents namely HTN (bacteria-based) YEAST (fungi-based). fresh hardened properties normal concretes initially evaluated. investigated performing pull-out tests on three different states concrete: uncracked, cracked, healed.
